We are a non-profit organization providing education to children in Mali, West Africa.


What’s in a name?  Mali is the country in West Africa where we work and Kalanso means schoolhouse in the local Bambara language.


If you’re not familiar with Mali, we bet you’ve heard of Timbuktu. 


Mali is a culturally and historically rich country in the heart of West Africa, yet remains one of the poorest countries in the world.*  Mali also has one of the lowest literacy rates, especially among girls. We hope to help change that, one school at a time.
